Kathleen is an artist from Syracuse New York. Seriously that doesn't even scratch the service of this multi talented woman. To look at the bulk of her paintings she is dark and intense but she has such a hilarious streak to her also. This girl painted victims of Jack the Ripper with such care and detail and with those same hands knitted a Dalek from doctor who and painted cheesecake pics of Hawkeye from Mash! She also has a love for music, listening and performing. I can't wait to see what she's got up her sleeve next!
Where did it all start for you?
I have loved drawing and painting since I can remember. It was my favorite subject in school. My sister and I went through reams of dot matrix printer paper as kids!
What's your favorite medium to work with?
My favorite medium is continuously evolving...right now it is oil paint, but I will always have a soft spot for chalk pastel..anything that blends nicely.

I always ask if the artist think they have any quirks regarding to their work. What are yours?
Quirks...hmmm... well all of my paintings end up having dog and rabbit hair stuck to them, but not by choice...
What inspires you?
I am inspired by a lot of things, other artists
( such as you!) , dreams, ridiculous inside jokes...most of my work though has an underlying theme of death. It seems pretty morbid, but when was in High School, my grandfather died. For my AP art class, we had to pick a " concentration" for our work and then have it evolve. Mine began as stages of grief and evolved into the scientific and clinical aspects of death. I guess this sort of self imposed immersion has given me a lasting appreciation and fascination for the natural process of death and how the human element can make it so unnatural.
What are your thoughts on the idea of a muse?
I am not sure if I believe in a muse, but I definitely believe in AHA! moments!
Who are some creatives you look up to or who are your favorites? Some of my favorite artists are my friends. I love surrounding myself with creative people...I am always blown away by how talented my friends ( and sister) are!
Whats your creative soundtrack look like?
This one is easy...I pretty much listen exclusively to the doors when I'm working..like, the entire catalog, over and over.
Which style do you think the bulk of your work is most like?
My style...is...hmm...sloppy realism? LOL
Are you self taught of an art school kid?
I took art classes all through high school, took AP art, spent years drawing at open figure drawing at a local community center, and also took lessons a few times from professionals.
Do you have commission peeves?
I don't really do any commissions, so I can't really have a peeve there
And finally what is your advice and words of wisdom to the next generation of artists coming up?
Ok..I thought hard about this...The best piece of art advice that I have ever been given was from my 7th grade art teacher, who told us " draw what you see, not what you think is there." That really changed the way I looked at the world!
I've posted some pics in this but go check out more of her work at
